Launched back in September 2020 Lorénzo Black started with just 4 styles of cap. Demand was fantastic and they were soon being asked about other lines. Today their range includes t-shirts, hoodies, joggers, cargos and of course the caps that started it all!
Having always had a love for fashion, owner Lennie Reid has worked in menswear for 8 years. This has given him a real insight in to the industry and enabled him to springboard his own dreams. However it hasn’t always been smooth sailing. ‘We had samples that we loved from one supplier, but when we went to place the order they tripled their price. It was a massive blow – we couldn’t afford that! But within 4 days our contacts had got us links to a supplier working with some big brands in the UK. I couldn’t believe my luck – and the quality and finish is even better! Some people spend years and a lot of money to find the right supplier – we did it within 4 days of a big disappointment!’
Lennie’s conscious that so much of the market these days is ‘fast fashion’ with brands constantly chasing what’s ‘hot right now’. Instead his aim is to provide Lorénzo Black customers with quality collections that will stay relevant for years. Taking inspiration from the likes of Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein, he says they ‘have such a clean look that never goes out of date’.
Long term, the vision is for Lorénzo Black to be an entry level brand in high end/ luxury stores such as Selfridges and End Clothing. And they’ve made a start towards this already, with their best selling cargo pants on sale in the Fishergate Centre at Designer Menswear – and more of their range will be featured in the new year!
